They were great. Very responsive and courteous. I'm not a survey expert but the work looked good. I had some feedback and they made adjustments. The city was satisfied as my permit was approved.

EDS surveyed our lot and provided us with a legal description to resolve an issue where the previous owner had placed part of the driveway on a city easement. They were extremely easy to work with and did a wonderful job on the plat and legal description. Very responsive and high quality work. I would definitely hire them again.

We needed our property lines found so we could fix an old fence that was on the property. The young man who came out to do the job was very professional, and did a thorough job. He found all 4 corners and marked them. It took him 4 hours with walking up and down the neighborhood making sure everything was perfect.

They were responsive and could perform the work quickly. We ended up needing 2 surveys as part of a variance application and both visits were handled professionally. They were familiar with the extensive survey report required for the Minneapolis variance application.

We contact EDS Inc. for a bid on survey needed for a fence issue on a property we manage. They responded very quickly with questions and a formal bid. We selected EDS Inc after receiving 2 bids. They completed the survey within a couple of days and we received paperwork by the end of the week. We have now placed 2 more orders with EDS Inc. They are prompt with responding too.

They did it next day after being contracted (it took just one phone call). About 6 hours a technician spent to survey 16000 sq. ft. lot to find monuments, elevations, location of neighboring houses etc using the special GPS technology. And two days later I got the certificate of survey - very professional looking, done with the latest software. Price actually was better than three other bids, though it went up a lot since 2002 when I also had to do survey (of another, smaller lot). Probably land surveyors don't have enough work to keep them busy every day so they compensate it by hiking prices.

EDS determined I did NOT have any monuments (markers) that would indicate my lot. They used other properties monuments to establish the borders of my property, then installed and recorded monuments defining my property lines. EDS was very professional and pleasant to do business with..

Philip Brown
Philip BrownI wanted to clarify my lot plat with a neighbor's who had a slightly different view of the plot line as it moved to the rear of the deep lot. EDS easily located the metal posts at all four corners and along the borders and staked the full lot. It was very helpful and now there is no question.

EDS is very easy to deal with. After I told them by phone what I wanted, they asked to call me back so they could check the lot online to see what kind of challenge it might be. They called right back to indicate it appeared to be routine and gave me the quote. Had anything changed along the way they would have stopped and related to me what they'd found and what additional expense it would be. That didn't happen. My neighbor observed the entire process with me and was very pleased with their work, requesting their business card for another job he had in mind. When I told him what it cost, we were amazed, anticipating it to be twice the amount. I related that when I need jobs done around the house I can't do (or don't want to), I research through Angie's List and have never been disappointed.

They did a very good job. The survey was scheduled quickly; within a couple of days of my call. They arrived on time and spent the whole day finding the property boundary. The original monuments were all missing so they had to set new ones. Ben explained the entire process he used to find reference points to mark boundary. I believe the survey was accurate and thorough.

Vlad and Ben were prompt, professional, knowledgeable, informative and friendly. I first called Vlad last summer when I developed a strong desire to fence in my 2 young children. After checking other companies reports and profiles on the List and talking to a few other companies, I decided that Vlad's very competitive pricing, flexibility; professionalism and sense of humor had won my business. Then, after looking at my finances, I realized that the fence would have to wait another year. My husband convinced me that we should wait to survey until closer to the time the fence would be built. I made a note to myself to hire EDS when the time came, along with a mental note that their price was $495 to do a survey (actually their base price) and went on about my business until warm weather came for a few days in March. I then called Vlad set up an appointment. Our phone call was very brief and business-like. I told him that we'd already talked about the details last summer and was ready to hire him. In retrospect, I realize this was a mistake. We should have reviewed the cost structure. Their base fee is $495 for a boundary lot survey in the Twin Cities, assuming the lot markers are there somewhere underground. In our case, there were no lot markers. In fact, several of our neighbors had no lot markers. Three lot markers on our block were misplaced (i.e. out of line with other markers on the block, the layout of the block and with city easements) which Vlad and Ben hadn't run into before. So, Vlad and Ben had to find markers and take measurements all the way up the block (approx. 20 properties) just to determine with certainty where our property corners are. They also had to place legal monuments on all four corners of our property since all four were missing. These were surprises, obviously. Beyond that, they also placed what I'll call a visual marker (not the rebar they placed at the property corners) at a retaining wall where we were planning some work. The team kept me fully informed of what was going on, but, not having my full attention (kids in attendance) they were doing uphill work with that part of the job too. It wasn't until I saw their completed product and paid the bill that I realized what a deal I had gotten (the kids were at school or napping by this point). They spent most of the day doing what would normally take a morning. They addressed the interesting challenge of misplaced property markers with professional zeal. They addressed my dawning sticker shock with overwhelming compassion and slashed the final bill considerably. They worked and cleaned up (there's some digging involved in finding property markers) in an unobtrusive way. Working with EDS was a great experience. I recommend them to all my "neighbors" on Angie's List!
Adraina Gorian
Adraina GorianI had a boundary lot survey done for my house in St. Louis Park. I asked to have the boundary marked for a fence that I needed to correct. The team of surveyors searched for hours to find two monument irons and had to place the other two that were missing. They also put marker flags along the boundary line.

My experience with EDS was very good. They arrived on time and the job took most of the day to complete; they called me at work periodically to update me on the status. The team exhibited great communication skills, not only with me to explain their findings, but also with my neighbors who were curious about the project. I wish I would have know about them years ago.

It went extremely well. They gave me a quote over the phone and set up an appointment that matched MY schedule. They arrived on time and were hard at work when I got home. The job turned out to be more complicated than expected and took longer than expected, but they stuck with it to complete the survey, even though it made them late for their own meeting. They were well mannered, friendly, fun and clearly extremely professional, honest and dedicated to EXCELLENT work. There was no up-charge for unexpected challenges and they did not change the price from the original quote, even though more work was involved than they had expected. I would recommend this contractor to any and all. I like their attitude. Honesty, integrity, hard work, and just plain fun.

Really good experience! I called and was able to set up an a time for the survey within a few days. The surveyor arrived and completed the job at the time designated. He called me at work to tell me that there had been a small problem with the survey, but that he had resolved the issue. Both the surveyor and the owner of the company were very professional over the phone.
